CROWN

My Daughter text the Christmas menu that she is cooking for our Christmas Day lunch sounds like we are having a banquet , she has left us to get the desert will have to have a look for a fitting dessert to accompany her meal , if we have enough room left for a desert .

As far as I am aware Tuesday mother has always cooked her Christmas dinner for her  I think every she has done this every year  apart from the time my daughter was was away travelling in New Zealand in 2012 .

Doing next week shifts of  18.00 - 02.00 apart from Christmas Day which I have off will be back on Boxing Day .

FRIDAY - Helen is full of flu and cold e have a party to go to this Saturday I doubt very much we will be going we are also delivering presents over the weekend which might mean me going on my own .
Went to the doctors she has an ear infection as well as cold and flu like symptoms she was prescribed some antibiotics .

Get paid early on the 23rd will have to go out and do some food shopping because the 23rd is on a Monday there is a good chance my wage will be in for Saturday which will make going to the shops a lot easier ,Last year I was in the supermarket like half past two in the morning .

Will get the usually stuff even though we are dining out will still get a turkey crown no legs wings or bones just meat  and maybe a joint of gammon a jar of  cranberry sauce and a packet of sage and onion stuffing and all the veg we usually get as well as some sweet potatoes .Need to get a Christmas card for Helen my daughter and grandson .

I remember when I worked at the council I always use to take two weeks off work break up on the Friday before Christmas it was great it seemed like a proper break no rushing to do everything now getting just the one day Christmas is just for a day .

BETTER THAN A WELLIE

MONDAY - Received a text message from work asking if I will start at 18.00 - 03.00 and do this pattern all week I  rang back and told them that  I would only do until two  , finishing at three a.m is too brutal on my sleep pattern .The only reason I do these shifts is for the extra cash specially as I need funds for New York in April .It is Helen's birthday on the 28th of December get paid on the 23rd.

TUESDAY - Another boring day at work did nothing much seemed a long day .To a chicken curry and some rice for my tea I also took some chapatis I warmed them up in the toaster the second lot I did burnt  , the office was full of smoke luckily the smoke alarms did not go off I taped them up and put the fans on last thing I wanted was the fire brigade turning up it can be a big call out charge if its a false alarm .

WEDNESDAY  - Off work went out to a bakery in Ossett to buy some rum truffles also had a fish sandwich from the Barracuda was not impressed not sure why the cats ate what I left .

Took Helen's son for his pre assessment was near Bramhope past Golden Acre Park it was a pain the traffic was bad he was only in for ten minutes I dropped him off at his house before setting back getting stuck in the rush hour traffic on the motorway .
Went to B&Q for some GU10 bulbs for the ceiling spot lights , that cover the kitchen area  it was three bulbs for a tenner or eight bulbs for £16 I just got the three .

On the way home I went to our local Asda it was raining I bought some beef wellington hopefully it taste better than Compos wellie (Last Of The Summer Wine  - Google it ) , and some stuffed mushrooms with garlic and cheese and a  bag of frozen goose fat chips with the skins on so that is tonight's  tea sorted I also bought some chicken Kiev's and some shower gel as well as dog and cat food .

CHRISTMAS WRAPPING

FRIDAY - Had to pick Helen up from her friends house at Meltham she has been invited for her tea and had been picked up just after half past six the agreement was could I pick her up later during the evening .I stayed at home cooked some jacket potatoes chili and cheese I was sorted .I watched the film classic "Leon" as I have the new Jean Reno movie "Cold Blood " to watch .I picked Helen up just after midnight I had to stop off on the way and get a tank full of petrol .

SATURDAY - Went over to the chiropodist Podiatry for my six week appointment I have been paying  £23.50 a visit  and have been nearly going a year now , I received a letter I am guessing all her clients are getting the same letter , stating that in January 2020  her prices are going up to £28.00 a increase of £4.50 this is for a thirty minute slot so a £9.00 a hour wage rise that's a £1440 a month increase  a total of £4,480 a month gross pay or a £53.760 a year .I think we at the NHS are getting a massive 1% rise in April which will not even cover the food rises in the shops or the increase in petrol prices for getting to work .

Helen has more readings over in Linthwaite tonight I have about a four to five hour wait sat in my car  if anyone has every sat in a car for half an hour it seems an eternity then five hours I can assure you is specially if it is raining dark and cold which it will be .I need to take coffee and wrap up warm I will wear a t-shirt hoodie and my quilted Levi jacket , with thermal socks I have gloves and a scarf I also have a blanket , I will take my charging brick for my iPhone put the seat back and down relax and watch either a film or you tube or listen to music , audio book or a podcast I won't get bored a little cramp maybe a little feed up but will do it so Helen has enough money to buy her Christmas presents she needs to get she  has already got mine so I have no ulterior motive for doing this .

SUNDAY - Went to Wakefield Helen bought her Christmas presents North Face T-shirts for her sons , a bath bomb selection and  a v-tech watch and reed diffusers from Next for three other people she also bought wrapping paper and gift tags .
Bought two ham hocks for dinner and swede it only took an hour to cook we was wrapping presents has the dinner cooked in the oven ,

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS

CHRISTMAS LIST  -What I would like for Christmas 2019.

A unpolluted Earth all countries equally being responsible for climate change.

All endangered species of animal  protected .

Enough food for all ,  people never going hungry.

Clean free fresh drinkable water for every one.

Affordable housing for every body requiring a home .

Free health care for everyone.

All wars and  hostilities to end .

All weapons of mass destruction to be decommissioned .

Governments secrets on U.F.O's , Aliens , and Area 51 to be disclosed .

All homeless people given shelter clothes and food .

All forests re planted .

All politicians to take a lie detector test before being elected to office .

All would be nice a few a dream come true any one of the above would do , be lucky to get any hopefully things will change before it is too late , trouble is I can see myself asking for the exact same things  again next year  and the year after .

Not sure why because all are easily achievable if the world leaders and government officials agreed to let it happen trouble is they don't want to if all the money spent on weapons was diverted elsewhere there would be money left over to give all people the basic things to sustain a healthy happy life .

BUY MORE BULLETS

I have Apple notes on my phone I keep all my passwords on there for more or less everything  as well as user names or numbers for login o different sites , well some how I deleted the lot , Its not the first time this has happened and  it is quite frustrating and extremely annoying when it happens , I do have a copy on my work computer and I do have some written down . But of course I do update passwords and don't always write the new password down and I do have different combinations of words and numbers my Mac book also auto complete password details so I don't have to remember for manual enter the password when I go to a particular site . It is amazing how many passwords you keep I will now have to try and retrieve them those I don't have will have to use the forgot password option to set a new one not a total pain just need to be more careful in future.

TUESDAY - Working 14.00 - 02.00 a whole twelve hours rest of week doing 18.00 - 03.00 not sure I am off next week might ask if I can continue doing the same shift but on over time .

WEDNESDAY  - Got a Nip from West Yorkshire Police for doing 36mph in a thirty zone a few yards further on the same road it changes to 60 mph it all the joys of motoring last time I got a Nip I paid the fine and took the points this time I might do the speed awareness course and save the points still £85 either way its my fault .I got caught on Sunday gone didn't  waste time getting the Nip notice out to me guess they need the cash for the Christmas party , I was in the wrong hands up but still think I was set up , but if they use my money to buy more bullets , to shoot more terrorist's then I am happy.

Went to the fam shop bought home made Cornish flat pasties , peas , chicken and leek pie , potato rottis as well as sausages and bacon .

Need to get her birthday present for the 28th of December its the worst day ever too near Christmas everyone is skint she never gets anything great from her sons for either Christmas or her birthday .
Last shift working till three a.m it has took its toll i am absolutely cream crackered the things we do for a half decent pay check.

ONE HOUR MORE

MONDAY - Went back to Cawthorn antiques Helen bought a heart shaped locket for her mother's Christmas present and a white porcelain potty for under the bed decoration purposes only .Went food shopping bought some meatball and spicy chicken and breakfast items .Called in to our favourite local fish and chip restaurant for dinner .

Adding just one  hour to the length of my shift makes it unbelievably longer I know it is only a mere sixty minutes but it takes forever to get to three a.m . doing this all week it gives me an extra days pay on top of the extra night rate I am getting .

TUESDAY - Got home just after half past three in the morning for most part the roads where deserted  I was up to let the cats out and I took our dog for his morning walk just after nine a.m .
Did nothing all day cooked us both breakfast and chilled out all day preparing myself for another night shift .

WEDNESDAY - Went to Meadow Hall Sheffield after only four hours sleep , we went to Pandora jewellers and bought Helen her locket and charms for Christmas  it was what she wanted , the charms I ordered online using the stores computer they will get delivered this coming Friday .

THURSDAY - Went to Asda bought food for a slow cook stew and other goodies like mince pies ice cream and salted caramel ice cream lollies all the essentials .

I have to admit it is taking its toll doing an extra hour till three a.m , I will be so glad when it is the end of the week .

ANOTHER CARVE UP

SATURDAY - Wet grey and foggy Helen has readings tonight in Leeds .which will last around four to five hours .Which will mean waiting in the car whilst she finishes .I have films to watch and the Tomb Raider game "Relic Run " to keep me amused plus some James Patterson audio books plus there is always the  local kebab shop .
Never made the kebab shop had a late tea of a a massive pork chop and pasta filled ravioli with four cheese and chips last thing I wanted or needed was a kebab .
Managed to watch two films whilst I whiled away four and a half hours the  "Night Hunter " echoed a bit of "Silence of the Lambs "and " Foot Soldier 4 " violent but amusing in parts ..
It was around eleven by the time we got back home the last few miles was extremely foggy but we arrived safely home Helen hates the fog she panics because she can't make the road out like I say to her as long as I can that's what matters .

SUNDAY - Did nothing much in the morning did some cleaning in the afternoon we went over  to Cawthorn antiques a few miles away Helen bought a pine swivel mirror on  a lift up hinged compartment and a pocket watch .We went to Toby Carvery at Dodworth Valley  for Sunday lunch we had not been to this Carvery before we had a half hour wait and had a drink at the bar when our name was called we was seated and went up to the to get served we  had roast turkey and pigged out on self served veggies of parsnips and mash and roasties and Yorkshires and loads of gravy .

PANDORA'S BOX

Cant believe anther Christmas is approaching faster than ever ,  I already know that I have the day off work ,  it is what we are doing , which we need to sort out asp  . It is going to be the first Christmas since my ex wife and my daughter's mother passed away and I expect it will be a very  emotional time for her .She has always spent Christmas  day with her mum and had her roast dinner with her it is a tradition for her has much as having turkey , mince pies  and sprouts  .

People say Christmas is just for one day but of course it is not we celebrate and prepare a lot earlier even if it is only thinking about what we are going to do .Last year we bought a whole turkey a big mistake a crown is much better I think that  it cooks better and tastes better and when you have to dogs and cats there is no waste .

Think I will be visiting a certain high street jewellers I guess I won't be the only one it will be a very busy time for the store and their takings  will rocket over the next couple of months Helen is looking at necklaces and rings and bracelets the jewellers in question is Pandora , should have box on the end because once you go once the door is always open specially if your hooked on the charm bracelets .

Fresh burgers pan fried in chili oil with onions served on a decent bread cake with cream cheese is my favourite sandwich of the moment with pier pier mayo nice and filling and mouth watering and quick to cook.

CHRISTMAS APPROACHING FAST

Going to buy a bottle of ruby port from M&S to go with the Christmas cake that  we will buy I use to like port with a cigar seeing as I don't longer smoke the cake will have to do . I already have a bottle of Jack Daniels from my birthday I was lucky enough to get two bottles . I will get a few bottles of cider as well I am not going mad with the drink this year more than likely will get Helen some Baileys Irish cream although she never manages to get through a whole bottle.

We will buy a turkey crown for our xmas dinner and maybe a gammon joint to go with it will have to remember to get some cranberry sauce and pigs in blankets .

Not sure what to get Helen  for Christmas and it is a double whammy  because it is her birthday on the 28th of December  which makes it twice as difficult .Might buy her an audible token so she can download some books she wants to read but never has the time easier to listen to them than pick a book up and manually  read it .

Yesterday I worked 18.00 - 03.00 they want me to stay till three not sure why but it is all paid at time and a half so I am not  moaning .I think I have next  week to do as well fingers crossed be extra cash for Christmas .

The council has filled all the grit bins up at the end of the lanes with fresh grit and salt so I helped myself to a carry bag full to throw on our decking  as it gets extremely slippy when we have had a heavy frost .

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS .

Well it is the weekend I need to find an alternative for my breakfast something that involves little or no cooking that is tasty and also filling not sure what to get or where to go to get it from.
We went to Owlcoates Pudsey Leeds Helen bought two packets of pot puree and five bottles of different smelling Christmas oils should have a nice smelling festive room of frankincense and Muir cinnamon , cloves and nutmeg.

It was around this time last year that my daughter put her own  life on hold so she could look after and stay with her mother , whilst her very ill mother bravely battled against her cancer , she was with her mother basically 24/7 until she finally  lost the battle a few days after  Christmas Day  .I know my daughter must remember every detail of the few months and it can't be easy her first Christmas without her mother being here . I know without a doubt her mother would want her to celebrate Christmas to the max has she always did and make the most of the celebration and have a toast to her mother for all the Christmases past but not forgotten.

Went to Asda bought some swede  carrots  and a small but big enough for two joint of pork for our Sunday dinner cooking it with stuffing , mash pots and Yorkshires , we  getting hooked on the pork dinners at the moment seem to be going down nicer than the  chicken .

Put the icicle lights hanging from the guttering two are not working might have to mess with the wires I did not realize until I put them up and it had got dark I did checked that they worked and all seemed fine before I hooked them to the guttering , even if they all don't light up still looks ok . I also put the two deer's that Helen bought from Lincoln Christmas market before she meet me .

After a week off work I am back on Monday that is until the 9th of December then its another week of annual leave I am also of on the 18th and 25th of December .

TREE UP FOR XMAS

TUESDAY - Took Helen to Trinity at Wakefield for her nails doing I looked in certain tech shops and book shops to while away an hour which did go pretty fast .
After we went to Aldi and stocked up on quite a few groceries for just over fifty pounds we bought quite a bit of meat and chicken dishes as well as salad ,  bread Christmas mince pies and stollen .

WEDNESDAY - Went to Wentworth garden centre again Helen bought a big rusty candle holder which I thought it was well over priced at fifty quid and a large ceramic bowl with small and large balls on its rim she is going to fill it with pot puree this was forty pounds she had been looking at getting over the last few months.

THURSDAY - Helen asked if we could put the tree up of course I said yes ok ,  it is the earliest I have ever put the tree up before , so why not Christmas should start when ever you want regardless of others.  Celebrate every Christmas the best way you can .It took a few hours to get it all together but it does look the biz .

SUNDAY - Went to Canon Hall farm shop bought some steak and Guinness pies for tea Helen bought another two Moorland pottery coffee cups one with a pig the other with sheep that's four now that we have and counting they are nice and retail for about £15.95 a cup which makes washing up a nightmare as we don't own a dishwasher .

MONDAY - Off all week went to Wentworth garden centre Helen bought  Large rusty candle sconce that is about two foot tall to sit on the fireplace hearth she also bought a blue round dish for the Christmas pot puree .

We went over to my daughters house we went in her car to pick Jenson up from school lucky it was not raining after we all took him swimming we sat and watch it was kids only been years since I have been inside a swimming baths probably  when I took my children swimming many moons ago .

Helen wants to put the Christmas  tree up next Saturday , We will have go to Greggs  see if we can get some Christmas pudding truffles and get some nice mince pies and pouring cream .Time to have Jack Daniels coffees and stollen .Beginning to look and smell a lot like Christmas .

Helen bought me a Braun electric shaver for Christmas  I have not had an electric razor for years and years . I must have been twenty something when I last owned one I thought they where great shavers back in the day,  I think they cost more then what they do now hopefully over the years the shave and design are better , the one I have got is a wet and dry shaver which I have not had before will let you know how improved they are after Christmas .

We bought some Christmas decorations and a new duvet set with stags on very Scottish I bought some Califia cold brew coffee with almond I was able to sample it in Asda and then because it was on offer I bought a bottle  it is nice with J.D and ice .

FLOODED

Apparently they are people out there putting Christmas trees up on the 1st of November no way its way too early I think 1st of December is earlier enough but each to their own .
We bought a new tree last year so hopefully when we unbox it all is good and as far as I remember it is a prelight tree we bought a wicker skirt .

The couple who came to see our static home said it was gorgeous but too small they did mention that they have six dogs you need Battersea's dog home love .

talking about Christmas not sure what I am getting Helen this year a Apple Watch was mentioned will have to see .
I need a piece of hand luggage apart from that not too sure what else I need nothing I guess maybe an electric shaver a cheap Braun model not sure if I can go back to an electric razor I have wet shaved for years .
2020 I am going to start another hand written diary its been years since I have done one but I will from no one do one each year till the end is the end .

Went to Monks Cross at York Helen bought stuff from Primark .The day after Thursday we went to Meadow Hall to Primark the motorway was bad rain was torrential and over spray from trucks bad we made it ok although it took longer to get there . After we left later in the evening  it flooded and people shoppers and retail staff  got stranded and had to  sleep in the mall. The basement car park and surrounding areas where covered  deep in water we was lucky we was  back home just after  midday as I had to go to work at 14.00 . But I  bet it was fun sleeping in the mall apparently carphone warehouse stayed open so people could charge their phones to let loved ones know they wouldn't be travelling home .

FIREWORKS

Trying to read up on as much about New York as I can and about the airline we are flying with which is United and the New Yorker Hotel that we are staying in .I don't want to spoil the surprise but to know where to go and when and try and not miss an important place of tourist attraction is going to be hard somethings we will have to forgo as time will be a factor and of course there are only so many hours in a day we will need to sleep even if its for only a few hours each day .
For me the 9/11 museum and memorial is a must if possible other than that the rest is a bonus .

MONDAY - Its grey foggy and wet not a great start to the week roll on Friday when  I break up for a whole nine days , nine days away from work sounds good to me .

GUY FAWKES - Got engaged to Helen on this day the 5th of November in 2011 it was a Saturday and we collected the ring form the Trafford shopping centre Manchester  and I do remember saying *if we can't ever afford any celebrations at least they will always be fireworks" .

Went out  for some freshly baked pork pies form our local garden centre they are the best, it is a pity I have to go to work but needs must ,  its another cloudy wet grey day roll on summer .

ALL 4HEAD

SATURDAY - Was up mega early took Bailey out for his morning walk.  I went to the chiropodist for a nine a.m appointment , I think  it is always money well spent and makes my walking about a lot easier on my feet ,  she had asked if I had done more walking this month as my feet were worse than normal obviously I am back at work it is amazing how many miles I walk each day specially if I have to go and move the car .

Vac the leaves up from the garden fighting a loosing battle Mother Nature always wins cant keep up with the amount of leaves that are dropping obviously if the wind is blowing you get more leaves falling and if it rains wet leaves always worse then dry leaves to get up need a flame thrower .

SUNDAY BEST

SUNDAY - Clocks went back by an a hour it was not needed I was wide awake at seven thanks to the cats . We went over to Wentworth garden centre Helen bought some candles in stone pots and a Moorland pottery cup with cows on it ,   then we went to the Fox House at Holmfirth  for a Sunday Carvery we had to wait for a table but  it was worth it the food was excellent  as we remembered its been a few years since we was there last . We both had the roast pork I had parsnips and potatoes both mash and roasted it was more  than enough there is no point in going out for dinner and still being hungry after wards.  It washed down with a pint of cloudy apple cider we both pigged out and we will be going back very soon , easily one of the best Sunday dinners we have had .

Helen has more readings at Linthwaite  tonight at the very same house that she did last night .  I will be wearing at least  two pairs of socks on and will make another flask of coffee I am not sure if I should drive back home or wait , sitting in a car by yourself in the dark for over five hours is tough and doing it three nights running is even harder , it gets to you yes I watch you tube vlogs and films and it does help kill the time but it still drags.

MONDAY - Back at work after five days off , but in two weeks I have another week off which is good so its just a case get this week out of the way then its all down hill .

Cut the grass at both sides and one end picked up all the leaves up whilst listening on my Bose headphones to the Editors "Black Gold" album excellent .

SAT IN CAR TWO NIGHTS RUNNING

FRIDAY NIGHT - Helen had a party of readings to in Meltham near Holmfirth I go there there just after six p.m I sat in my car parked up in a Morrisons car park a mile or so away  in the dark and in the pouring rain with a flask of hot coffee which also had  a shot of Jack Daniels in it  , I got two bottles for my birthday , I was watching  the new Breaking Bad movie El Camino  on my iPhone the film was mediocre .

On the way home Called in at McDonald's the milk shake I had was warmer than the beef burger in my Big Mac well nearly , got home just before midnight it was was still raining .

SATURDAY - Don't think it has stopped raining its mid afternoon and we are going to Asda and it is still raining .
Helen had more readings this time in Linthwaite I dropped her off I parked up and waited in a near by church car park which was only a few hundred yards away , I had done another flask of coffee it was way too hot to drink I think I need to take a cup next time rather than drinking it from the  metal insulated bottle , my feet got really cold I had a four hour wait the next time I will have to put two pairs of socks on .I watched the latest offering from Liam Gallagher the documentary "As It Was" a great piece of work really liked it .

N.Y & LOVE

Had a great night out Helen had curled her hair and she looked gorgeous dressed in black with blonde hair she looked good to me .
We arrived at La Catina 44 just before half past six we had drinks and ordered are starters the food was ok can't say it was the best ever Italian but no one really complained . I had ordered a calzone Kiev as my main dish  the fold pizza looks more like a pastie .
My Daughter gave me a brown envelope it contained a very large scratch card in the shape of a golden heart I scratched it off the card is below , which says it all .
We that's me and my daughter are going to fly New York next  April  from Manchester , we are jetting off to the big Apple New York city all I can say is I am totally overwhelmed and what a great present to give me the opportunity  to go to this amazing city it is without out a doubt for me anyway a once in a life time chance and thanks to a great daughter I am getting that chance  to go and visit the city that never sleeps and so good they named it twice  .

I also asked Helen if we could finally  set a date for our wedding we got engaged years and years  ago on bonfire night and  we never really  took it any further not sure why it just didn't happen ,  as the years roll bye it seemed right we should bring it back to the forefront  . I have been with Helen longer than a lot of marriages last  , she left everything to be with me and I mean everything and I have to admit I love her as much as I did when we first meet , so I proposed in front of everyone on one knee and she said yes she even had a tear in her eye a perfect end to a perfect day .

Life is too short to do all the things I want to do but going to America and getting married are two off , on my to do list .

TUESDAY - After today no work for the rest of the week I am sixty years old tomorrow and will be  celebrating my birthday with my twin sister Anne .we are meeting up tomorrow for an Italian meal with the rest of the family and my daughter and grandson will also be there .

My closet work colleagues presented me with food and a bottle of Jack Daniels and an engraved glass  and a massive card .They all was wearing card board face masks with my face printed on them  a scary freaky sight .

When I got home from work Helen had put banners out  in the van and had a chocolate birthday cake ready and bottles of Kopparberg so two surprises in one day very moving .

WEDNESDAY   - Happy Birthday to me , the big 60 scary unfortunately there is no alternative to getting old , I will enjoy each day and make the most of every week and try to live life to the max when and where  possible .

For the rest of the week I have curries and pizzas to cook  salted Carmel ice cream lollies to eat and chocolate cake and cream  to pig out on  . I have ice cold bottles of Kopparberg pear  cider once I pit them in the fridge  , and lots of ice for my  Jack Daniels . I have Debbie Harry's new  biography to read and films to watch what more could I wish for , I also have done six lines on tonight's lottery fingers crossed .

MORE FOR NO MORE

My sixtieth birthday is just a week away how time flies by it is true what they say time speeds up the older you get which seems so unfair .There is so much left to do places to visit I think one thing I regret is not travelling abroad more hopefully there will still be time to get a few more countries in specially Italy , Bali and the U.s.a .
If I reach retirement I will if affordable and health permitting bye some sort of camper van so I can travel if only around the British Isles and I think doing any travelling as got to be better than staying put .

FRIDAY  - Thank god its Friday trouble is the weekend will fly by as always next week I am only working the Monday and Tuesday the rest of the week I am on leave .Got to work as always they changed the goal posts want us to do more work be more proactive not just me the whole team , well maybe if you was more proactive sorting a decent wage rise out you would have our support , but as always more work more responsibilities for the  same  money , we do more work and have more responsibilities then the other blocks  added together yet they get the same pay as us .Say anything towards then your not a team player bullshit .

GOOD FIND

FRIDAY -  Five days doing 18.00 till 02.00 getting by on around five hours sleep each night  is now taking its toll I feel knackered sand o glad that  its Friday and the weekend don't know how I did all the weeks previously before my hip op doing as this one week seems to have been the worst ever .

We have another estate agent calling round from  W H Brown hopefully they will sort out our sale after meeting them we are now  putting our home up for sale with them as soul agents our current agent  is a slow making any  process and even slower keeping us informed or giving us feed back as we need a result and we so want to move before Christmas we though it is time for a change if we don't it will mean we loose out on the cottage that we are currently after .

Gold Rush season 10 has started and after watching episode one of the new season  it looks like it will be very interesting .

Found two pairs of combats and one pair of jeans a great find they was outside where we keep the dryer , I have washed them and they are drying out will try them on later  them will see if they fit .Got three new shirts supplied by my  work they are royal blue and at least have a breast pocket on the left hand side for my phone .

SUNDAY - Off on a trip to the White Rose parking is always a pain Helen wants to go to Primark for some leggings I would rather go tomorrow a lot less hassle . Finally got a parking spot went to Sainsbury's and  bought a joint of pork with stuffing some  pre made Yorkshire puddings and a jar of goose fat which was half price what we paid for the pork , and for desert a  bread butter pudding and custard this was for our Sunday evening meal .

WILL ONE DAY .

FRIDAY  - Went over to my daughters hair salon its a thirty minute drive  for our hair doing I had my regular cut , grade one back and sides and short spikes and  messy on top .

SATURDAY - Built the bird table it is a lot easier and quicker when you have an electric  chop saw I also creosoted it in dark brown .  Now Helen has seen it assembled she wants me to do a similar  bird table for our garden  I have  got to admit it is better and bigger than the one I made for our garden a while back  .

Did a bit of food shopping at M&S still like their Italian dishes three for £7.00 bought some garlic bread and  a twin pack of tiramisu also bought four cans of Kopparberg pear from Home Bargains £2.99 .

SUNDAY - Boring watched tv and You Tube cooked Sunday dinner had chicken manage a trip out to the garden centre and watched the film  "Stuber" .

MONDAY - Was driving to work when I noticed a missed call from the office I returned the call they asked me if I wanted to do a couple of 18,00 till 02.00 I said of course and did a u-turn back home .
Ended up watching a old James Bond movie that I went to the pictures to see with my Father "Diamonds are Forever " looking dated but brought back happy memories .
I went to see a few more James Bond movies with him we also went to see the "Sting " and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid". Then I started to think about our holidays in Scarborough on the beach reading "Papillon" in a bed and breakfast for two weeks loving every minute when ten pounds to us as kids was a fortune . In a few weeks time I turn sixty when we was born my mother was not expecting twins we was given a fifty fifty chance of surviving , back in 1959 it was a different era .

I know one thing I am sick of the mundane and sick of having to work to pay my taxes and bills to buy food so I can go to work to pay my taxes and keep on the treadmill . I am  sick of doing nothing most of the time , how I wish I could travel more . I will buy a van one day and even if it is only for use on the weekends I  will travel the U.k, Scotland , Wales and Ireland BECAUSE WE ARE A LONG TIME DEAD.

PLEASE SIR

SATURDAY - Managed to walk Bailey before the rain really started its a dull wet grey Saturday not sure what I want to do apart from drink coffee eat and chill out .
I asked Helen if we bought a camper van and we was touring the remote parts of Scotland and for whatever reason the van would not start and we was stranded what emergency rations and items would she store . Her reply was a match and a piece of sting , after I had sowed my side back up I said what about food she replied totally serious and said rice and pasta if we do ever get a van I will be in charge of the only use in emergency cupboard , otherwise we will end up like Chris McCandless may he rest in peace .

If you are reading this and not heard of Chris McCandless watch the film "Into The Wild " then listen to the album by the same name by the legend  Eddie Vedder.

Went to our favourite fish and chip shop was late in the afternoon more like an early tea as always we had haddock and chips Helen's with peas and mine with beans she had tea me a coke they was very good as always .

SUNDAY - Went to the White Swan Inn for Sunday lunch we have been about four times now this time we just had the pork Sunday roast it is nice food but to be honest it is not filling I left wanting another plate full I had eaten mine in ten minutes Helen was still eating hers twenty minutes in  I felt like  Oliver Twist .
Watched the Johnny Depp film "The Ninth Gate" its been a while since I have seen it .

IN IT

At least going back to work makes looking forward to the weekends extra special although they do go incredibly fast . I have booked three days annual leave in October the 23rd, 24th and 25th and I am already excited and  looking forward to these days off .

My daughter as bought a new car a black Audi 1 she picks it up Wednesday safe and trouble free driving hopefully .

WEDNESDAY  - The cottage we viewed was ideal it was super clean and nicely decorated as the photos showed the garden was also  big enough and  end road parking ideal all'n'all we really couldn't find any major faults or issues apart from there is no fire we would have liked a log burning fire it is solely heated by the central heating . We have no more real space really than what we have here but it is spread over three floors with the bedroom and bathroom upstairs we registered our interest and put an offer in of 1500k less than the asking price so all fingers and toes crossed .
Another big plus is all are old neighbours are literally just down the road a few hundred yards away.

FRIDAY - Got the boiler serviced £65 good for another years .Paid some funds in to the online national lottery and did a line for the £167 million Euro Lottery I also bought a ticket at the local supermarket its pay day so why not , Helen also did a line online as well as the Euro hot picks , got to be in it to win it as they say .

ANOTHER VIEWING

SUNDAY - Went back to Ikea Helen wanted another lantern on the way home we stopped of at a farm shop and bought a few supplies like ice cream and a apple and pear pie , and sweet potatoes for the Sunday dinner that we are cooking when we get home roast pork and Yorkshire pudding .

updated my  iPhone to IOS 13 think its been over hyped apart from the camera editing tools and dark mode its not that great might just be me and might not have seen all the new add-ons , will see what I think after I have used it a bit more.

MONDAY - Cant believe Thomas Cook has ended their travel company literally been round for years sad news for those who have lost holidays and even more so to those who have booked honeymoons through them , and of course sad for a lot of the front line staff who will be no looking for new jobs of course the fat cats the ones receiving the big bonus payments will be just fine .

Work starting  at  four pm all this week then back to normal shift patent not looking forward prefer working 18.00 till 02.00 damn .

Had someone view the van totally out of the blue was a couple who are down sizing I was at work but by all accounts they loved it as most people do if they decide to buy it we are viewing a property on Wednesday at Cinders Hill Holmfirth  this is at the end of the street where we use to live on Upper Bank End Road , its a one bedroom cottage with a  loft the loft look better than the bedroom .The bathroom is bigger than what we have now but the kitchen is smaller .

The kitchen looks adequate we won't get an American style fridge freezer in there but the shops are not too far away so it shouldn't be an issue .
The living room looks warm and inviting love the beams and lights plus the recessed window this is bigger than what we have now .

The actual garden is bigger  than shown here but with many walks for the dogs it's not an issue .

l
The loft and bathroom shown below will take our own photos tomorrow when we view the property in the afternoon overall the property has a new feel to it  , it is fresh and clean plus it is stone built with a decent garden , it does look bigger from the outside but it is listed as a cottage so will see .
If you draw a line under where the loft is you can see it is a  small living space but I reckon it will do us ,

NOTHING IN PARTICULAR

THURSDAY  -  The blog hit 100,120 all time views totally unbelievable .The last couple of days have been like summer the weather hot but enjoyable .
We saw a media  post of a friend  he was eating egg and chips with bread and butter , the chips were hand cut and deep fried  in a chip pan . So what did we do ? yep went out and bought and electric fryer  along with two one litre bottles of sunflower oil , a large bag of potatoes and bread cakes and sliced bread the new fryer cost only £14.99 from Asda by George .Will always argue chips always taste better done in dripping but of course a lot less healthier .

FRIDAY - Download the new Sam Fender album "Hypersonic Missiles and Liam Gallagher "As You Were via Spotify any one not using Spotify highly recommend it , more than worth the subscription .

Went to buy some blank cd's Helen does readings and then writes them to disc to give to the person to listen to at their own speed and time. She had run out of blank discs I usually get them of eBay for her , we went to three major stores Sainsbury's , Tesco and Asda none stock them we went to a Pc World store it was shut for refurbishment we ended up at Argos how times have changed . New cars do not have a CD player we don't own a CD player we use the DVD player guess no one is burning music to disc anymore the floppy disc died a death looks like cd's will go the same way.

SATURDAY - At the chiropodist this morning at 10.30 taking the dogs to the vets at 14.00 for their nails doing worming and flea treatments and any injections they need .

Late  evening went to Ikea bought a few bits for supper e had a Chinese special fried rice curry sauce and chips  there was enough for two for £9.20 , won't want another one for at least six months

DINO FISH

TUESDAY -  It is hard getting back into work even harder to get motivated the job is as mundane as ever and I am nit doing full shifts yet this week I am working 18.00 to 22.00 and it is dragging seems a hell of a lot longer .

The morning viewing yesterday went ok I took the dogs out for a walk in some near by woods whilst the people looked around the van , they have the money to buy it they also have a motor home we see parked up a few miles away near a Indian restaurant we go to , it has electrical operated  pods that extend out from the sides to create a lot  more living space .

Bought some smoked cod we had it with boiled  new potatoes and sweet corn with salt and pepper bread .My piece looked like it had teeth looks like a dinosaur head with butte rand black pepper it was very tasty .

A BIG NO

SUNDAY - I just looked at my page views and it stated I am  at 99, 901 views it looks like I am  going to reach  100k very soon I started the blog on September the 19th 2006 coming up to its 13th anniversary 2057 posts written not sure how many words a lot of drivel ,  bad spelling and punctuation hopefully I have slightly got better over the years thank god for spell checker so  thank you readers thank s every one of you and thanks to those who have read more than one posting I doubt there are many out there but thanks  .

Did not go out for lunch instead we went to M&S and bought a rolled turkey joint I also like their oat meal biscuits and Helen prefers the washing up liquid they sell , we had dinner with roasted parsnips sweet pots and roasted pots and Yorkshire pudding also had a few sprouts .
Watched 'Adrift" on Netflix amazing true story check it out also watched a Liam Neilson film similar to the Taken films but newer .

MONDAY -  Got a viewing for us to go  view a property in Linthwaite at 01.00 pm it is a  2 bedroom house the  sale price is  £110 k with a massive rear garden and plenty of open fields to the rear of the property . it is stone built in Yorkshire stone with a decent size kitchen and living rooms . with exposed beams in parts . with a wood burning stove and white bathroom fittings fingers cross we like it when we view it .We got there it had the worlds smallest kitchen and most of the unit doors were pealing no attempt had been made to clean and it smelt of cat piss the bedrooms also looked a lot smaller than the photos wide angle camera lens to make the rooms look bigger and no garden also it was further than we thought so a big fat no .

Least I got to go to Castle Hill which can be seen from miles away the tower was built in to commemorate Queen Victoria's diamond of 1897 , also the round house which is very near buy and very modern which was built in 1995  .

SATURDAY NIGHT SUN SET

SATURDAY - We have  another person coming to view the van on Tuesday at 11.30 am  , we have lowered the asking price by over 5k it was good to try for 100k but being realistic it was being very optimistic , so fingers crossed we will get a reasonable offer and we can move on to our next home .

In the afternoon we had a drive over to Acaster Malbis to see Helens folks  , it was warm and sunny we went with them  to a small village high street Acomb which was only a few miles away to the main high street  had quite a few charity shops .We bought Jamie Oliver cook book  "Cook Italy "for £2.50 from the local heart foundation shop
.
We stopped on the way back at a local farm and bought some free range hen eggs they had an honesty bowl they cost only £1.40 for half a dozen we had the right change and dropped it in .

We went back for dinner her mother had cooked us a roast lamb dinner with roasted veg , after eating I went in to the garden for some fresh air and captured this amazing photo of the sun setting  just after half past seven of course I wish is was somewhere more exotic maybe soon I will .

NUMBER TWO

Looking at buying into a shared housing scheme where you pay a big chunk of cash and pay a small rent each month , obviously the more percentage of the house you pay then the cheaper the monthly rent. The benefits you own part of a house you are not just paying rent if you own 75% and the value of the property goes up you can always cash in by selling it back and moving on.
Draw backs you don't own the whole house unless you pay the balance and there might be a monthly service charge that needs to be paid on top of the rent . Not sure how you sell it on or if you can without owning the whole of the house

WEDNESDAY - Cant believe 9/11 happened it was another era I can't believe I was seeing on the news people jumping to their deaths to avoid getting burnt Alive .I cant believe the second plane hitting the second tower than the first tower collapsing , I cant believe all the fire men and others that lost their lives that day hopefully we will never witness anything on that scale again , but then Isis happened where a lot more lives where lost , I can believe we are doomed the planet is being brought to it knees by greed man always comes first and will always get his way until this changes we are a needle stuck on a never ending playing record.

My daughter has had  tattoo number two done at the same tattoo studio in Leeds city centre Red Tattoo ,  I knew she would they are addictive it is a lotus flower with her son Jenson Pisces zodiac star constellation ,  bet she is already planing her next one ,

NEARLY 100,000

SUNDAY - Helen's parents came for their Sunday dinner we had roast shoulder of pork bought from the local farm shop along with roasted sweet potatoes , Yorkshire puddings , stuffing and roast potatoes was excellent .
After we went to Beaumont Park we took the dogs Helen's parents followed in their car it was our first visit  . One of the house's we  viewed a few weeks ago we  put an offer on  , its rear garden backs directly on to this park  and we thought we would check it out . It is a fine park and we had a nice stroll through some of its grounds we did not have time to check out all the park but we likes what we saw  .

MONDAY - First week working for all of the week , I am still doing 19.00 till 22.00 on my phased return schedule .Which is good but makes for a long day it is nice finishing for ten p.m.

The telecom engineer from BT called our broadband is running slow again he said its due to an extension we have running to the out building  he reset the line and removed the extension when he left our speed was 34 mbps .

My blog is coming up to 100,000  page views not sure why it is way unbelievable as  it is mainly my diary  instead of a pen written one which to be honest I thought it would only be me viewing it ., and it would last a few years tops .
The fact others are interested enough to scan through it  ,  is very moving . Specially as I am the first to admit I don't live a great life I am more than Mr average .  I wish I could do  more travelling  and get to a lot more destinations even if only in the U,K but you never know what is around the corner any way if you are one reading this thank you feel free to make a comment , hopefully a nice one hopefully be Rollin Bye for many more years to come , thank you all.

We bought the Cluedo board game a few weeks ago we played it for the first time the other night Helen won both games I got both my accusations wrong which made her the winner still it was good fun.

TUESDAY - Broadband speed is now 4 mbps not the extension is it then Mr BT engineer .
Helen bought a new silent night double electric blanket it is now fitted ready for winter no doubt it will be working before then .

GRAND OPENING

Been a sunny September day went out to the shops Helen bought laundry items limited edition conditioner , wash powder tabs and a some little smelling fragrant balls you throw in with your clothes before you wash them .Me I bought two boxes of salted caramel magnum's and two packs of oat meal biscuits ideal for dunking.

This coming Saturday is my daughter and her business partner and her  best friend Jade,  Hair Salon open day it is also my ex wife's birthday she died just after Boxing Day on the 27th of December 2018 , and its sad she never got to see this tremendous day of course she would of been overjoyed and proud of her daughters hard work and success , goes without saying I am too she has done loads in the last few weeks to get the salon up and running it is a great achievement .

SATURDAY.
They had some really good food  I specially  liked the chocolate cookies with sea salt on top very nice along with the fruit punch. There was quite a few people there  and it was quite hot and  sunny a perfect day the salon was looking well , all nice ,  all finished freshly painted with new fittings .

The letters J&T that are on the wall was done by Helen with dried flowers and a can of rose gold spray paint .To say the salon a few weeks previous when they bought has now been totally transformed is a credit to their determination and help from friends and family and some of the trade people they know doing extra to help them get up and running on time at little cost .Hopefully onwards and upwards .

THIS TIME LAST YEAR

Looking at cheap drones well drones costing no more than £175 which have half decent fly time and return to home function and follow me function it is amazing how many choices there is .We have a viewing booked some people  on Wednesday evening are coming to have a look at our home with the option of  buying it , if a sensible offer is made than the clock will start ticking , and we will need to find  a property for us to move into we need to organize a mortgage and some how get our stuff moved out and into the new home .

The viewing went perfect they loved it they thought it was amazing they faulted nothing we had spent the last two days tidying up I did at least a dozen blue Ikea bags of garden rubble old plastic plant pots and old plants that where way  past their sell by date . I also cleaned out the out buildings and got them looking better  and less cluttered . We bought some more scented diffusers and some plug in air fresheners we also bought some flowers and fresh fruit .

The couple who viewed it hopefully will put in an offer and hopefully it will be for the full asking price as they have a buyer for their home which was confirmed today and they are down sizing so hopefully won't haggle us over the price as we need every penny for our new home .

My last day on sick is tomorrow I am back at work on Friday the last few months have flown by it is going to be weird going back on the last day of the week for a three hour shift , it seems like I have been off work a lot longer .

This time last year we was in Ibiza wish I was back there total chilling instead it is a great island with great people and culture . Perhaps we can get away with the money w have made if we sell our home.

HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT

Need to go to Ossett village centre Helen needs a new vapour pen or machine the mini Arc she is using is given he nothing put problems she bought a new one a few weeks back and it leaks she gets oil in her mouth and it maybe even be given her mouth ulcers so new machine it is .

SATURDAY - When we went to the vape shop we ended up buying a new tank that fitter her mini arc battery packs for a cost of only  £10 and so far so good  , she also bought two bottles of oil she does prefer the oil she was using so she might end up sticking with the Totally Wicked oil.

Helen is working at half past four tonight doing five readings over in Huddersfield not sure if I will stay or drop her off and then come home and pick her up when she has finished .If I stay I will have my 500 ml bottle of juice I am currently drinking cherries and berries instead of my regular orange and mango life is never boring plus  my phone and iPad  can continue to read "An Unwanted Guest " and maybe even a bar of chocolate or a bag of buttons a fun Saturday night .
I ended up going home it was only 9 miles away it did not make sense to stay she ended up doing six readings so I still had an hours wait .

Bentley my cat was sick it stunk in the sick was a full body of a mouse it was like something out of The Walking Dead was not impressed one bit  ,the joys of owning a cat.

SUNDAY - Went to the White Swan at Fenay Bridge for Sunday dinner we went a few weeks ago the food was excellent once again we had the same as last time mixed meat beef and pork roast pots Yorkshire puddings and swede washed down with a cup of tea for Helen and a cloudy apple cider for me .

CLUES ARE THERE

WEDNESDAY - This time next week will be my last day on sick it as flown by .My hip operation seems to be fine they only issue I have is driving after an hour or so it aches I am not sure if it is the seat or the fact I am using the clutch and brake or all three short journeys not a problem hopefully this will improve over time .

The cottage we put a bid on has had a offer from first time buyers it is obvious they won't wait for us to sell our static home and apparently it is a higher offer than the asking price , Helen was pissed off but I think everything for a reason and we shouldn't be putting offers in for other property until we have had a offer on our own home to me this makes sense Helen disagrees arguing seems to be pointless as she is unrealistic in her thinking .

FRIDAY - Finally fixed the gate we have an extra large gate to our property I rehung it on the opposite post last year and the weight of the gate gradually pulled the post over so we had to lift it to shut it I put a gate wheel on which helped put not fully . So I dug out the soil and broke up the existing concrete dug the hole deep straighten the post braced it so the fetch panel was located correctly and re concreted it back in after digging out more soil so it would hold more concrete using a 1 cement , 2sand  , 4 aggregate mix hopefully once it sets all is good .

Not sure why we went to the local toy shop in the Trinity centre Wakefield and for £16  bought the classic board game Cluedo for those who don't know it is where you find out who is the murderer in what room  it took place and with which murder weapon , which is good because I have just started reading "An Unwanted Guest " by Shari Lapena . The story line is a group of people are stranded in a hotel deep in the country side  they are  snowed in  and a murder occurs by someone staying there .The clues are there just need to find them a bit like life .

I thought I was going back to work next Thursday when in fact it is on the Friday , I phoned up to find out what hours I would be doing on my phased return to work , for the first Friday I am working I will be doing 19.00 - 22.00 three hours which are  also these hours agreed for the following week , week number two it is 18.00 - 22.00 and  the third week 16.00 - 22.00 the forth week to be discussed if I need it or if don't . People slag work off all the time I have been on sick for over three months they make it easy to fit back in without you over doing it can't fault them .

THE GATE

This morning I  drove us over to Holmfirth to the street where we use to live on , we was visiting our old neighbour Samantha , we usually try and go over ever each year . Her cottage is ideal it is a double sized one compared to the rest on the street plus it is also situated on the on the end . It as gardens to three sides and a gate at the top that leads up to a large pond which is on on another piece of land that belongs to someone else I use to walk round every morning with Pip and George
The cottage  has a large stoned floor kitchen and a large living room with exposed wooden ceiling beams and stone mullion window openings , it is everything you could wish for in a cottage including a black cat ducks and hens , we both love it it is hard not to it is in a great location we would buy it tomorrow if it was for sale and we had the cash .

I love the two photos below taken on my iPhone .
