MONDAY BLUES

Monday morning just after eight in the morning I phone the DWP regarding a claim for statuary sick pay from them the employer stops their payments from the 31st of March the Department Works and Pensions will take over for a further 28 weeks not that I will need that many weeks hopefully if I do it will because of a dislocation . I was on the phone well over 45 minutes going over my claim I will her a decision by the 9th of March fingers crossed its around £88 a week so it is worth claiming .

Helen has nearly achieved 72 hours without having lighting up a real cigarette so far she has had no urge hopefully if she can get over the first seven days it will be a great achievement and she will already be around £48 in pocket plus her oxygen levels will have increase and there will be no nicotine or carbon monoxide left in her system . She is hell to live with and it is that bad I keep telling here to have a cig which is not that supportive but she is stressing me out , I was never like that when I stopped as far as I can remember .

My daughter called with her partner Lee he took Helen to the farm shop bought some ox tail and braising steak for a slow cook which I will do tomorrow for a great tea with Yorkshire pudding and mash potatoes .

Helen's computer skills looking how she is performing trying to upload a photo on Moon Pig and Funky pigeon forget it.

It was trying it's hardest to snow this afternoon it was just a few degrees too warm any colder and it would have started to lay.

YES IT IS

Helen was awake most of the night we went to bed very early and never really got off to sleep she needs to get referred to a different hospital and to see a different specialist and get her heart issues solved once and for all.

Went to Trinity with my sister bought Helen another E- cigarette and a menthol liquid if it works Helen's health will improve greatly which is the main reason and another good reason  to quit is we will be quids its at a cost of £6.50 a day .This is the forth device that  I have bought her  , after a day they usually get thrown in the drawer never to see daylight again this is the last one I will buy her .

Went to Asda bought a trolley full  of groceries , again we stocked up on loads of frozen items from veg to meat mainly red  , to smoked and plain haddock  to chicken and steak pies so the freezer is full once again , yes its payday.

After we went to Cawthorn Antiques I was on my sticks they had a load of old time canes and walking sticks I asked the sales lady if she had an old cane with a sword hidden in it or a gun she laughed , not sure why I was serious .

Paid some more money in to my lottery account and won a few quid on the scratch cards I also did a line for the national lottery.

HUMAN

This Morning I walked to the local shop for cat food , Milk and bread cakes I did the same journey before my operation and I was in agony on the walk back today it was totally different I was in no pain what so ever a really good sign I made the right choice to have  hip replacement surgery .

One of the fence panels at the rear blew down due to storm Doris , the end of the van there is no windows w have windows all down both sides,  at the front we have a three window bay  we don't have windows on the opposite end of the van which is our bedroom we only have windows in our bedroom on either side so we had no idea the panel was out.
Our neighbour opposite had a plastic panel out of his green house and he came in to our garden to look for it and he saw the down panel , he held me dean it life it in to place re-screw it I also braced the post of the telegraph post we have at the rear I also added more screws to the other panels just to be on the safe side if there is no more winds it will be good until summer when I can do a better solution.

Had a call from my line manager he is once again referring me to occupational health I should get a date and time in around three to six weeks time hopefully I will be able to drive after seeing the physiotherapist on the 6th of March .

I should be back at work if all goes according to plan sometime in April I see my surgeon on the 7th of April ., hopefully he will give me the all clear.

JUST ANOTHER DAY

Four weeks today I was getting ready for the hip replacement surgery scheduled  for  half past four.
I am still taking blood thinning tablets and I am still having to wear the surgical support socks.

My wound is clean no weeping no redness I reckon it is healing perfect , it is starting to itch slightly but I wash it every day which helps to soften it.

I am due an increment at work we get them every year until you are on top of your pay banding  and I am wondering if mine will progress if not I will be annoyed if i feel I have been penalized for my sickness absence .

I am sleep slightly better but still waking up at around two a.m and around four thirty a.m but I am eventually dropping/drifting  off back to sleep ,listening to podcast helps .

Hopefully if I am correct payday is tomorrow and I think we will be going shopping with my sister again Saturday this will be the first time I have been out other than m y walks since Sunday.

Received a letter from work after the 31st of March I will go on half pay I will need to claim more money from the Job Centre which will boost my wages I need to phone them on Monday.

Broke my Mrice E300  earphones I snapped the 3mm jack which remained in my iPod ,  luckily I was able to pull it out with some thin nosed pliers other wise I couldn't listen to anything as it was recognising that the headphones was plugged in , I originally bought these off eBay for around £8.00 if I want the same item from the U.K it will cost me well over  £30.00 , I will buy a different brand and type .

Had the slow cooker out again and I did a beef stew  no dumpling mix did Yorkshire puddings and I also baked some very plain buns for the first time which although plain tasted ok.

NO SHOW

My works manager never came today was the day for my home visit . When I rang to see at what time he would be arriving I took the initiative I know my line manager too well it was then  I was informed that he was attending a meeting that he was scheduled to go to , so  hence he would not be visiting me , good job we didn't bake a cake then .

Cleaned the potting shed outhouse building it had six blue Ikea bags full of books papers and other items that have been sitting in there since we moved nearly two years ago , we also got rid of a bicycle Helen was given that is a death trap regarding the brakes so our day was not totally wasted .

Started listening to some crime pod casts on a night  "True Crime Garage " and "Case File True Crime " When I usually wake up I watch certain You Tube channels , but I like the sound of someone talking and it is better that I can close my eyes and at least I am not fcuking with my night vision another plus is I can also set  a time limit  it to switch it off from 10 minutes or and hour or when the pod is finished playing.

The  weather looks like what we were suppose to get yesterday warmer and sunny our four goldfish have survived the winter we should be able to feed them now.

Well, had my bowl of porridge , been for a walk and on my second cup of coffee and I am not sure what else I will be doing today I might check out my photos stored on my external hard drive there is thousands .

ETHEL

SUNDAY  - My sister Anne picked us up we were going to pay our respects to our Mother whom passed away eleven  years ago today she died in Hospital and like our Father who was s cremated at the crematorium at Lawnswoodt she was  born in 1919 and died 87 years later .My Fathers born in 1912 other family ashes are  also scattered there  my Aunt Ivy her Husband Jack  and my cousin Paul.

Dad and Mam

 .

We also visited the mausoleum "Ethel at the gate" our mother was called Ethel that's where the similarities end this Ethel is not part of our family she married into wealth and died a year before my mother was born in 1911.

After we went over to my sisters house and I had a luxury of having a nice hot wet shower and was able to wash my hair for the  first time in over three weeks it was very welcomed I took with me my wash bag and towel  Helen helped me getting the pressure socks off not easy getting them on again without help impossible .Whilst I was showering my sister cooked a load of sausages and we had sandwiches for breakfast thank you Anne.

START ME UP.

Had to go to the car to take something out of the boot that we needed , so I thought I would turn the engine over it has been over three weeks since it was driven anywhere , and has been stationary since I went in to hospital which seems months ago

.  I took it out of gear using my stick and inserted the key  and no kidding it started the first time totally unbelievable got to admit I had a smile on my facc , I did not manage to sit behind the wheel maybe next week it will be my new goal even if I cant drive to physically get behind the wheel would be a good start I reckon if I can sit in the car I can operate the clutch brake etc and drive it  .

I also wore a pair of jeans for the first time since the op I have been  wearing sweat pants or shorts it  did feel a bit restricted but was ok .

Pan fried haddock and chips for tea again tonight with home made batter had  it with bread and butter and baked beans the fish although frozen was excellent .

GROUND HOG

A really great sunny morning it really looks like summer if only it was a bit warmer we'd be there .
Found out Ed Sheeran is rocking at number one and number two spot in the U.K singles chart which is great news ,  for his 26th birthday uploaded another song off his forth coming album "Divide" called "How Would You Feel" which is also brilliant hear it on Spotify.

Did more walking did more exercise watched more t.v and did little else not being able to drive is a total bummer any longer and I might have to start looking at bush timetables .

Each day is more or less "Ground Hog Day" doing nothing dies the its toll don't get me wrong I do vac the van and I do some cooking and the washing up of dishes but I cant bend forward reaching up is fine but bending low a big no ,no.

Sunday we are going to the crematorium it is the anniversary of my mothers death. My sister and my daughter are also going  , funny has that sounds it is not a bad walk and hopefully it won't be raining . We will get to see the remembrance book the page will be open showing  my mothers entry in it and  we will light candles in remembrance of her sad as it is we are all going to end up in the book .

After I am going to my sisters house she as a walk in shower and I am going to get wet .

My son is still talking to me I rang him th either night he gets his driving license back in April and he will be able to drive again  , he is still separated from his girlfriend she as more or less told him not to text call or message her on Facebook never meet her but I think he is best out of it.

REASON TO FIDGET

Finally got the bearing for my Munsen ring fidget  spinner I built it in a couple of minutes and degrease the bearing so it runs more freely and It works fine it needs running in but overall it is good.

My Daughter drove over to visit us and to cut my hair and to colour and cut Helen's hair she came with her fiancee Lee and her my Grandson Jenson .
We cooked them dinner a mince cobbler topped pie with freshly baked apple pie and ice cream for desert .

It was raining didn't get that many walks in today but soon as the weather is fine I will be walking the green mile once again .

I was allowed to wash my wound to do I used a mild soap and warm water it felt ok it didn't sting or feel sore I was aware to the stray strips and the raised skin of the wound other than that it was straight forward .

I have had no more pain in my good hip so things might be settling down I am still aware of my surroundings and the most dangerous part of any walk is our decking when wet it can be very slippery roll on summer.

A NEW PAIN

If I walk slowly and precise  I walk like a Gent so I am walking slow and precise I have never walked as good as I am  walking now be it with the aid of sticks  for maybe the last seven years my Zombie walking dead style of walking as vanished I am back to being normal , all I need is to do this on my own then I can ditch the sticks.

Helen cooked a beef stew and dumplings it was no where near as good as mine she better not read this otherwise I might be cooking forever .
She did bake a apple pie which we will have today when my daughter comes at lunch time .

My good hip started to ache I don't know if it is because it is working harder and taking more strain to compensate for the artificial hip joint until it heals or if I am just over doing stuff. But there is a dull ache which appeared yesterday hopefully it will get no worse and eventually disappear as  I have never had any issues before with thus hip joint so hopefully it is nothing .

The one thing really bugging me is I have not been able to wash my hair I am going to have to come up with a method which does not evolve bending over a sink I might just go out side with wet hair and get Helen to throw water over my head sure she be willing .

KEEP THE FAITH

Happy Valentine's every one , and  to those who are still single then carry on there is someone out there for you there is someone out there  for everyone keep the faith .

I can sleep no longer the  four hours max on a night it does not matter if I go to bed early or late its the same , I am not waking up due to pain or stiffness I just cant seem to break the four hour barrier .

I will be dropping of  the chair usually late afternoon or early evening so I know I am in need of sleep  I just cant feed the meter pass the four hour mark , it's frustrating .

Went to see the physiotherapist and I am doing good there was a few things I was getting wrong which I will correct mainly to do with posture and sitting , also he adjusted my sticks so they are now longer in length . He took my dressing off and says the wound is fine and to leave the wound open to the air  no need for it re-dressing and I can wash the wound area with soap and water in two days time  . I still have a small amount of fluid retention around my ankle and knee so I still need to wear the support socks 24/7 for the time being.

He also said that it will be at least the end of April before I can go back to work , that's if nothing changes , until twelve weeks post op there is still chance of dislocation which god forbid happens if it did the agony would be unbearable the chances are it would pop out forwardly pressing on the testicles ouch in the extreme  it does not bear thinking about so why risk it .
I cant drive yet and I also cant climb over the bath for a shower I have to sleep on my back still and when I can sleep on my side it will be on my operation side not the untreated side .
Keeping 90 degrees is a must no bending down allowed what so ever and I must not be tempted to do this even if it causes me no immediate pain there is still a risk of dislocation .

Went out walking today did five trips out each time Bentley my cat followed me hr either walked behind me which for him is amazing he usually in between your legs as you walk or he was at my side bless him , George my other Tom cat will also follow if Bentley is not about .

WET COLD AND GREY

Sunday morning I woke too early I was tired but got up anyway , once I get the taste for coffee staying restless in bed is pointless.
I feed the cats I did not really want to I don't want them of getting in to the habit of eating early or I will be constantly getting up at this god forsaken early hour.

I made a coffee than it is sat on the dresser for over an hour before I reach for it and take it over to the microwave for a re-heat , decided to have some crunchy nut cornflakes we have single cream in the fridge and I cant help myself crunchy nut cornflakes and ice cold single cream heaven .

Think I will try and get in the car to day see how easy or difficult it is will also if i manage to get sat down behind the wheel turn it over for a few minutes and see how easy it is operating the clutch .

Doing utter crap on the online lottery three tickets so far has only got me a lucky dip and nothing  else at this rate going back to work is a very , very strong possibility .

The weather is for snow but so far no white stuff has fallen out of the skies or at least not where I live.

There is only so much T.V anyone one person can watch there is only a certain length of time you can spend on the Internet filling my day is getting harder now I cant drive and get out when I want anyone who is more or less permanently house bound must eventually go stir crazy in the summer months different can sit out eat out and relax more in winter not so .It was that cold , wet and grey  I was not even tempted to go for a walk .

Dinner had we had  fresh chicken and mushroom soup with home cooked baguettes whilst we were eating it was doing its best to snow .

MARATHON

SATURDAY

Slept in was well after seven am when I woke up i finally got up just after eight my sister is driving over at around tennis to take us food shopping this time I am making the journey and hopefully walking round the aisles with them .

Started off at the garden centre did a good walk round bought a few items also including in house baked award winning  pork pies they are bout the best you can get specially when they are still warm  I also bought some decent super glue , for the hand spinner I will make when I get all the parts delivered.

Went to Asda superstore I pushed the trolley round virtually a zimmer frame with wheels I bought lots of haddock fish pieces  and a large packet of smoked ham and honey ham a couple of  lamb joints  for a Sunday dinner  through the week . W

e going to be cooking some of the  smoked ham tonight in a  tagliatelle carbonara with double cream not health but nice .
Helen also bought some large baking apples to oven bake an apple pie .I was out for well over four hours which was good period for getting out  but it tends to ruin my sisters Saturday which is a big sacrifice on her part I know how weekends are important . I was also able to buy  plenty of cat food that should feed them well over a week .

Helen took the picture below which does not show the added grated cheddar cheese and a good grinding of black pepper .

Other than the shopping outing we did very little else  we had dinner had had no pain or aches from tall the walking I did  which was a big bonus , but  I will still be glad when I can get behind the wheel again and drive my car.

NO VAMPIRE

Had a really bad nights sleep woke up at two so I got on the iPad watching You Tube channels I woke up again at half past four and finally got up just after half past seven cant wait until I can sleep on my side feel like i am Dracula sleeping in a coffin with my hands folded across my chest not good.

It is snowing only slightly I had a walk out in the morning when it was cold but clear , the dusting of snow came later I dare not risk slipping on the ice , so I stayed in the rest of the day.

I am watching more Discovery channel programs about living in and working in Alaska I finished "Alaska The Last Frontier " and  "Edge Of Alaska " I am watching "Gold Rush" and "Alaskan Bush People " and "State Troopers".

Managed two walks today was fine no issues tomorrow I think I will go to Asda shopping get a few bits I need nothing major it's always the incidental things sometimes you miss the most today we have run out of bin liners and rock salt two items that come to mind and a light bulb .

Some of the parts came for my fidget spinner hopefully the rest will be tomorrow or Monday I will take a photo of the finished article , I might even buy myself a professionally made one I did have years ago something I use to spin and I cant for the life of me remember what it was I had .

Home made lasagne french fries onion rings and garlic bread ( just to proof I ain't no vampire ) we ate just after five was the only meal we had all day.

FINGERS CROSSED

Had the stitches cut top and bottom said the wound had oozed out slightly but had dried again a new dressing was a great welcome I go in a weeks time for another re-check.

I walked to the end of the road and back I was a lot quicker than before and I was walking in a more timely fashion I will continue these walks more each day our wooden decking is very slippy when wet I have to be so careful I don't end up on my arse , not sure what the damaged would be could set me back weeks .

My little Fiat 500 has not moved an  inch  in nearly two weeks  , saying that I have not even attempted to see if I can actually get in to the driving seat  and physically get behind the wheel being right hand drive I would have to lead with my operated hip going in first ,  while I am a passenger I enter the left had side with my decent leg going in first it makes a big difference , plus it is a shift gear which means my left foot will  have to operate the clutch pedal maybe this time next week I will be more able.

My Manager and Line Manageress are coming out to where I live for a home visit which is on the 20th of February in the afternoon hopefully we can discuss my phased return and works parking permit .

I set up two online Lottery accounts for Helen and I , we can now play the U.K and the  Euro millions online along with other games we both deposited £10.00 and can add founds when every we need the old saying " you got to be in it to win it " is very true you can also play scratch cards top price £100 million online it also tells you how many top price tickets are still available to win. I have already won a free lucky dip for this comings Saturday's draw for matching two numbers.

FIDGET

I can actually elevate my foot from on the bedroom floor and swing it up on to the bed with out using the handle part of my walking stick as a mechanical lifting aid I did this three times in about a two hours  I am guessing  all the exercise I have been doing is paying off .Then when it was time to retire for the night I couldn't quite manage it never mind it will come eventually .

Vw IPhone 7 case came today it's ok and will do when I am going out instead of carrying around my current charger case it's a lot thinner and weighs less but isn't a full time replacement case.

Went to my local doctors surgery my good friend Ken took me the practice nurse cut my stitches top and bottom put a new steri strip on and a new dressing , I was told the incision had leaked slightly at the top of the wound but had dried up and looked fine , I go back in a week for it re-checking.

I still wearing the surgical socks which is a total pain I checked with the nurse she said it is best I continue wearing them for the time being oh well guess I should do as advised .

Having a wicked tea tonight been having one decent meal a day tonight we are having a slab of steak with large stuffed mushroom and oven chunky chips and oven baked onion rings Helen also baked a coffee cake which we will have with ice cream , a good way to end the day.

Bought of Ebay  some bearings and brass pipe clips to make a fidget finger spinner they wanted £30:00 on eBay i bought the pieces I needed for less than  £4 haha .

SAY YES

Helped a neighbour reset her iPad she had taken it along  to PC World and they for £60 would look at it they also  told her that chances are it was because it was too old and that she would more than likely need to purchase a brand  new iPad  , why did they tell her this ( she is elderly ) because  when she was using her Face book and Google her iPad was crashing . Which is utter crap pretty sure there is enough processing power and memory to run these both apps without her pad breaking in to a sweat , after taking her photos off for her I wiped it and  restored to new and set it back up sorted .

Keeping these entries going is hard work when I am not doing that much I am still taking medication and the pain is being managed which results in me more or less pain free it is more stiffness than anything and pulling on the stitches .

I am still losing out in the battle for sleep so far five hours so is what I am maxing out at which is due to the fact that  I cant sleep on my side I am still stretched out on my back .

I still cant get in to the shower it is strip washing and I cant  drive the car  or though  I feel more stronger every .
I have to admit that  I am tempted and being honest   I think if I was still driving the 4x4 I would be mobile  due to the fact it is a lot big cab and easier access in and out at the moment we are still reliant on friends and my sister  taking Helen shopping which is working out ok .
If my sister comes over again Saturday I might go to the supermarket with them .

My next trip out is Wednesday to get the stitches cut top and bottom I have a lift arranged for this .

Highlight of the day Jacket spuds chili and cheese for my main dinner of the day and of course that I am making a great recovery from surgery.

JUST TO SAY YES  :-

If anyone reading this  considering  Hip replacement surgery I will tell you this quite honestly that from my experience I would say without a single doubt that you should go for it 100% . The operation AS OPERATIONS GO is not a bad one at all  and yes do have the spinal block epidural I promise you won't choose a better option . You will see nothing of the surgery you are screened off and as for pain have no fear it works and you will  feel nothing for me it was  0% pain another big plus is you that can take your iPod in to theatre  it is allowed and listen to your favourite tunes or whatever you want , and they will be wheeling you out back to your room before you know it.

A NEW CASE

One week home and how time files  what you can achieve in only a week and what progress can be made .

Whilst I was in Hospital my son Guy phoned me  its  well over a year  since we have spoken or had any contact  , he asked if I was ok talking whilst at work  ,  I told him that  I was in hospital and had just had a hip replacement surgery and was now in bed recovering but whether he knew this or not it was still nice to hear from him  , we have spoken a few times more after his initial call , and learned that he is no longer with his girlfriend of the last six months although I have never meet her I know she is a complex person.

For someone who is permanently disabled life must be a day in day out a massive struggle I found just doing normal tasks and doing every day things  are never straight forward .  I am lucky even now I am blessed with the things I can and cant do but in a few weeks I will be back to every day activities living a normal able life and for that I am very grateful .

My first eBay purchase of the year this Vw camper van logo iPhone 7 case I know you can also get the matching coffee mug and the household item but i thought this case just did it.

Steve the man in the van next to us called over he wanted help setting up his new mobile it needing charging he called back in an hour with it charged it was easier enough to set up  , I told him anytime he wanted a coffee or just a chat change of scenery just to drop by it was not a issue he left happy only to return five minutes later with a bottle of wine for me ,there was no need but thanks.

Helen cooked us a lovely Sunday roast dinner of roast beef , roast potatoes , Yorkshire puddings and sprouts noting nicer than horseradish with roast beef it just goes.

FISH N CHIPS

Helen went to the supermarket my sister Anne called over to take Helen I wrote a list of all the stuff we needed trusting Helen to get everything on the list ranging from mouth wash to curry they was gone about two hours

When they arrived home they unpacked and we decided to go over to Dobcross which is over the side of the moors to our favourite garden centre it is about a forty minutes drive I did ok I was in no pain and quite relaxed I did get out the other end slightly sore and stiff no pun intended . I spent another half an hour or so walking round before getting back in the car for the drive home which was a lot harder getting back  in than before for the journey there and a lot harder than getting out but I managed it getting help to lift in the operated leg .
I probably walked a little bit more than what I should have but I doubt I have done any major damage.

Anne dropped us of home we are doing home made fish and chips making our own batter I should have put on the shopping list 2 x 3.4 litres or 6 pints yes the two of us go quite a bit of milk we had only  about half a cup full , oh well enough of the batter mix I have single cream in the fridge for my coffee and we can blag some of the neigh boughs for Helen's cuppa tea.

Below pan fried fish and oven cooked chips the fish was frozen but cooked to perfection these have got to be some of the nicest fish I have had cooked at home specially when I added slat vinegar and tomato sauce and of course bread and butter .
Both cats and the dog had fish we didn't eat I think I mange two pieces and Helen manage only  one and a half .

Least today  I got out  of the van and the drive over the moors is always nice an added bonus the sun was out , even though it was late afternoon and cool it was good enough for me I won't go quite stir crazy yet.

NO FLY BY

We ventured out that is Helen and I we had a letter to post so we walked the length of the caravan park to the post post.  I waited at the electronic gate whilst she walked on to post the letter .
She was actually walking a faster pace than me for the first time ever . I did ok I made good progress it felt nice being out doors  for the first time since leaving hospital I reckon i walked about 500 yards which is more than I have walked since having the operation .it is quite amazing how we heal and mend and  how the body repairs itself given  time . I thought it might have been too much strain but I was fine .

I am trying to cut down on the codeine painkillers instead of taking two I am limiting myself to only one and eventually I want it to be none  which it will be as I think I have around 30 left.

My sister is coming over later today to take Helen food shopping , question is  do I risk walking round the supermarket .I have to admit  it would be a great trip out , and I could get exactly what I want in the way of food I guess I might be pushing my luck the risk of some idiot with a wayward trolley driving in to might hip would not help my recovery process .

I slept  last night without getting up midway through the early hours of the morning mainly because  I was still awake in bed  at 2am and I woke up just after half past six , kind of cheating I know but it gave me the illusion of having a full nights sleep .

Through the day I have been killing time buy watching "Alaska Bush People " and "Escape The Chateau ", and doing my regular exercises not much more I can do . I can make my own hot drinks and I can wash the dishes , I offered to vac the van Helen said no , I can reach up but not bend down and I am certain I can walk without my sticks and have done over short distances .It is a different boredom when you want to do things and cant , I could do lots of things biggest down is not being able to drive , No days fly by anymore each day is longer than it should be .

ONE WEEK DONE

My sister and husband brought over the chair for me that was won on eBay , it is perfect Helen loves it , I am happy it is sturdy and wide and a lot more comfy then what I have had in the past .

Sleeping is still not great I seem to max out at four hours the thing is I am tired  , but  I think four hours is enough to re-charge my batteries I don't have hectic days and  I think eventually I will get more sleep when I don't have to sleep on my back and I can lay on my side and I can get rid of wearing socks in bed which I hate. My twin sister sleeps on her back . I usually start on my back then usually go on to my right side with my right arm underneath or at the back of the pillows I have three .
To say that  it has been one week gone since my operation considering what I had done my mobility is very good I think I could walk without the sticks short distances but not permanently . I am sure when I was younger I spent ten days recovering from a appendix removal procedure 72 hours for a new hip is nothing .

I need to get to the supermarket doing a list for someone else sucks ,  I need pizzas and maybe pork chops and more tinned chilli and cheese also jacket potatoes I also need a new book for jotting scribbling in .

Going  back to work will happen it's weeks away , but I know it will creep up on me and the day will come least starting late in the afternoon won't make me after get up an earlier .

Some Hhs districts and this happened the day after I had surgery are stopping hip replacements unless you are in extreme pain and are waking up during the night , They have it so wrong pain is only a part of it , not being able to put socks on and having to pre tie shoes , the effort and trouble slipping underpants and trousers and jeans on also the reverse undressing . Stepping over things or stepping on to things walking posture and balance , the fact you walk compensating for a pained hip can lead to back ache even the simple act of getting sat down and standing up of course then there is sports and sex personal hygiene cutting toe nails is very difficult loads of things come into play pain is not a great issue and can be controlled to a certain degree .

I DO IT MY WAY

Helen got the chance to go to the supermarket again we stocked up on more cat food , potatoes , milk  , ice cream and canned chili .
I phoned in work and spoke with my line manager he already knew that I had my operation the drums of  Facebook  I mentioned I had a sick note for eight weeks , love it or hate it , it's how it is .

I sat out all of the day I am not sure if this was a good idea  , don't get me wrong I was walking about moving around and doing my exercise routine but i think I should have had a lay down in the afternoon . My leg which I had my hip replaced is swollen the knee ankle etc not bad maybe 25% larger than the good leg.

When sitting or walking or doing other things nobody can tell you  what or how to do stuff it is your pain threshold and your restricted movement and it is what suites you and what make life easier for you is how you are going to do it .
Its like saying sit up straight it will be better for your back ,  or bend your leg , or straighten your leg. Or worse things people doing way too much they want to do it all I can put a glass to my mouth when taking tablets  I am mobile and  I am able to do stuff  . I can use the kettle and go to the fridge they are virtually next to each other I make a drink using boiling water do one squat jump no hop on my bad leg guess not I no my limits ,  wrapping me in cotton wool is irritating  and overkill if I need help I still have vocal cords I can ask.

I guess I slept for a good five hours last night I woke up at half five it was half six before I got myself up washed and shaved and teeth done , using the shower is  a big no I am not allowed to step over the bath.

The cats have been good Bentley slightly pushing it the odd time but George is gentle and loving  he is a proper gent.

I am eating less for breakfast only 1 rasher of bacon in a small bread cake dinner small amount of roast chicken I Yorkshire pudding mash potato and gravy and for now it is enough .

APPRECIATED
