THE RAISE THAT WASNT

3% Payrise for NHS Staff who I work for , our  national insurance  payments are to go up by 1.5%  to fund the covid pandemic so that is half your rise gone straight away because of the increase to Paye tax and the increase to your pension scheme what's it really worth guess we be lucky to get what we are being paid now.then they are trying to get it so all staff are mandatory vaccinated against covid and the promise of a third wave on its way with the MU variant which the original covid vaccine does nothing to protect you anyway thanks for the raise .

Anyway the sun is still beaming down on our little village and  I am healthy living  in a nice house with a my great partner Helen and to boot  in a great part of the U.K I am extremely grateful for everything we have including fresh water and food life is not perfect but for what we have people some people would gladly swap .

THURSDAY - Rain is back never mind , I have tomorrow Friday so there is a ray of sunshine we re going on a ghost hunt at a haunted location at Knottingley I will have more to report once we have been .

FRIDAY - The Buddha resin picture came today hung it on the wall looks quite good to say it didn't cost a fortune really happy with it .

THINGS REVISITED .

On September the 16th my blog will be sixteen years old cant believe I have lasted that long to say I don't really have a interesting life I am not well travelled or have a great hobby or even have a interesting job it is very basic life I lead. And the blog is my diary and was only ever meant for me to read the fact anyone else reads it is beyond me although the people that are currently reading it or not are dropping .

THURSDAY - Forgot to mention yesterday I went for my hair cutting my daughter was not free to do it so I went back to Terrys's he has a shed that's set back off the road and he cuts hair there I have been before .

The shed has been there since 1935 and has not changed much sure its the original mirror .Terry the barber that is there now has been working there since 1983. The mirror that faces you when you are sat in the chair must have had many faces both young and old looking into it over the years it came with the shop and is believed to be the original mirror form the 30's

Another thing I revisited  was some gaming as I  fired up my x-box its been a while continued to play "Resident Evil" got back into it and made quite a bit of progress .

Cooked bangers baked beans and mash for tea classic food sausages burnt just right , the right amount of butter and milk in the mash and the baked beans not over cooked perfect if I do say so .

BELLAS BACK HOME

BANK HOL MONDAY - Cleaned all day I did the kitchen dining living room and bathroom .Did all the kitchen unit tops washed all the pans and dishes that where on top of the units . Cleaned the cooker took all the curtains down and washed them in every room in the house .Vacuumed all of the carpets washed out the bath and shower screen toilets and hand wash basins we put clan sheets on our bed and washed the dog beds .We was at it all day nn stop . For tea I  cooked us both a pork mince rice bowl we need to make some Ketjap Manis its a sweet Indonesian soy sauce .

TUESDAY - We went back to York to drop some stuff off for Helens  parents and to help with his mobility scooter lifting it out of his car they go to Wales tomorrow .

We went to Sand Hutton a few miles away its where the police are searching for the missing chef Claudia it was closed of we saw the chemical factory Fera but that was about as far as we got we thought about parking up and walking through the cone barriers but decided not to .

Stopped off at Asda bought a giant bag of scampi I did them with some gastro chips and freshly baked  a sourdough baguette Helen had a load of salad with hers I had some piri mayonnaise sauce if nothing it was filling not overly keen on scampi prefer it deep fried rather than cooked in the oven .

WEDNESDAY - Took Helen to see a psychic friend who lives in a magnificent house in Wakefield a few miles away past Cawthorne .We spent a good couple of hours there she had our Bella doll after doing tests to see if there is an maleficent  spirit attached to the doll .As it says words and sentences it is not suppose to say it is not in it vocabulary. The speaker which is inside of the doll  it is basically the same as a spirit box and the dolls is programmed with over two hundred sounds and words which young children can talk to it and the doll interacts with them through movement of its eyes and head and arms . So phrases like "fuck off"" I hate you" and "go die" should not happen anyway we took the doll back home its in the boot of the car we need new batteries for it .There are loads of people with these dolls that have got rid of them because they believe they have demonic spirits either attached to the doll are they are using the doll to communicate with the living in a bad way .We have heard our doll say "Spooky",  "Scared" and "Don't Like It".Once we have bought new batteries we will see what its like now its back home.

PIZZA AND THE STORM

SUNDAY - Ground hog day got up someones gate was banging away like Wayne Rooney with a prostitute dogs where barking its suppose to be a decent neighbourhood half a million pound houses we are suppose to be the poor relations we have more style and class then a lot of the richer folks.

One of the women pulled me walking ny dog  because Bailey had marked on one of her bushes in the front garden as they are all open plan its quite easy to do .She banged on the window and shouted at me I ignored her . But on the way back she collared me I told her he did not piss he was marking more than likely over another dogs mark , I told her not to speak to me again silly tart , her great garden she is so concerned about  are the same shitty bushes and grasses that came with the house and every other persons house on the street ,nothing more nothing less.Wait till she finds out my cats are shitting in her garden what am I suppose to do dogs are dogs and cats are cats , oh and by the way she is also a dog owner so she should know dogs do what dogs do. Below is our garden dogs , cats , snails and slugs all welcome .

Went over to Helens parents in Acaster Malbis  it was mid afternoon when we set off .They go to Wales on Wednesday for a short get away so we thought we pop over .We passed the signs for the Leeds Fest my daughter and her boyfriend are there hope they are having a great time .

On the way back home we stopped off at a pizza parlour looked really nice and clean I pass it every day going to and from work so we stopped .I ordered two thin pizzas a bolognese sauce for Helen of course  and I got the mixed grill we had two lots of fries and a portion of  onion rings.

I won't name the pizza parlour but I was not impressed you can make more loaded Italian pie  at Asda for a third of the price .We ate it I though it lacked toppings very skimpy on the meat cheese and tomatoe never mind will try a different one next time .

Spent the rest of Sunday going into Monday watching the hurricane Ida a cat four hit New Orleans with devastating effect what a nightmare we send our prays to all the people in the U.S.A and hope you all live to tell the tales of the night of the storm .We watched a lot of power lines come down and house roofs blowing off and yachts and trucks on their sides a petrol station totally demolished scary we left the tv on in the bedroom all night the images coming back where horrendous really hope you all made it .

WEDNESDAY  - After all these years the search for Claudia Lawerence is back on she was a chef at York university  .The police  underwater team are searching the sites of two water filled quarries gravel pits a few miles from York.

Apparently they was thinking about searching them twelve years ago but never did is there now going to be closure for the family and they will at least know that she is just not a missing person but a murder victim . R.I.P Claudia .

Charlie Watts the Rollin Stones drummer has died at the age of eighty I remember listening to the album "Rolled Gold " Under My Thumb and Ruby Tuesday classics .What a life he must have had the countries he visited the people he meet would like to read his diaries. R.I.P Charlie .

Trouble with life and living it can be long or short and gone in an instant .We should make the most of it do what makes us happy make good memories visit places read book and listen to music every day something new should happen try new foods , get a tattoo , read a new book write it all down and take photos on the way because once you are dead that's all what might remain of a live once lived .

ANOTHER CRIME

Cant believe the shit that is happening in Afghanistan the Taliban never defeated never ent away you cant even say its gone back to square one its ten times worst whilst we cant live in peace there is little or no chance for the planet or mankind if we survive until 3001 it will be a miracle .

TUESDAY - Another wet day grey dull and drab just like the news ,  is summer truly over ? . Maybe maybe not if it isn't its not far off maybe a couple of more weeks of sunshine before the end of September..

A nurse from one of the wards I go to was murdered over the weekend her husband is on the run he was caught on cctv getting on a train to Scotland getting off at Edinburgh .So now he is a fugitive on the run if he planned it he might last a couple of weeks if he just flipped he might last a few days unlike Harrison Ford in the film "The Fugitive " I reckon either way he will be caught pretty quick .

SATURDAY - The scum above was caught and is now in custody there is a go fund me page to try and raise 5k to give to the children of the woman murdered so far they have over 2k .

THE LAKES

SUNDAY - We decided to go to the lakes a couple of hours drive it was not the hottest of days but after checking the weather app  it looked like it would stay fine .We set of just after half past one ,We managed to get parked up at Windermere but it was only a one hour parking slot then you either took your chances with the traffic wardens or moved on .

Bought Helen a Peter Rabbit Beatrix Potter figure below well its what the lakes are all about last time we was here we visited the Beatrix Potter museum .

We had a walk then went back to move the car we found another parking spot at Ambleside you had to get a parking disc we got one from a near by shop you had to display the time you parked you got half an hour totally ridiculous .We spotted a fish and chip shop called the Walnut got to be the worst fish and chips ever total rip of nearly £18 and total shit would fed them to the dogs we had took them back to the car we ate what we could binned the rest and moved on .We drove a different way home heading for Ilkley then to Bradford before heading through Huddersfield and eventually home .

MONDAY - Work at six p.m makes for a longer weekend its been raining not a great start to the week but by mid afternoon the sun was out .I don't know if I prefer going to work in the rain or sun once I am there I don't really see what it is doing outside .In a couple of weeks I have a week off and to be honest I cant wait .

THE LODGE

Looks like both  my daughter and son are moving home its nice to move on sometimes it changes your luck and circle of friends its amazing how many different and diverse people we meet had over the last twenty years .Must be great to be famous and have a lot of famous neighbours make a good book .

We have cancelled the Hello Fresh order for next week think we will have a fortnight off before going back every week is a bit too much like the diversity of cooking my own shop bought food half the enjoyment is shopping .

SATURDAY - Cooked a full English breakfast before we set off in the afternoon to the Chevin Park Hotel  just outside Otley. We got there just after four Went to check in whilst Helen waited in the car with the dogs .There was someone complaining about her lodge she was not happy the receptionist went to get some one senior to sort it out , she said to me her lodge had not been cleaned properly and she didn't think the bed and towels had been changed .We got booked in , The receptionist  asked for payment I told him it was paid for he looked confused I showed him the voucher we had he said the system need updating and told us not to worry , we got the card swipe key and made our way to our lodge for the night .

It was a big lodge dived into three our neighbours where young and had a barbecue going they where drinking and our dogs started barking .The lodge was damp and had a smell I put the radiator on and made a drink .We put the tv on Netflix came up but couldn't connect I checked my signal on my phone no signal and no available wifi , checked the shower not been cleaned properly , checked the bed the duvet was not the right size for the bed .We could hear the guest from each cabin through the walls .

You couldn't watch the tv from the bed it was out of view we had booked dinner for seven thirty , we took the dogs for a walk round there was a wedding on the kids were running riot and messing around on one of the golf type buggy car which looked dangerous totally unsupervised we walked round the lake but could only go so far it was blocked of by a big wedding tent I guess for the guest dinner etc .We went back to our lodge and made another coffee.

Went fr dinner was shown to a table and given menus people where coughing all over the place and not even covering their mouth up whilst doing so , someone at other table close by also started to bought then a different table it is not what we expected it didn't seem sensible to sit there and stay we told the waitress we was not bothering with dinner and went back to the lodge the room still smelt musty  and damp Helen also said the bed was damp we decided to leave we landed the car and the dogs and left we later checked the online reviews they was not good .

CATCHING UP

SATURDAY PART TWO - After eating our fish and chips see last post we decided to go home let the dogs out and the cats in then go to Ikea at Leeds .Helen bought some new lamp shades for the downstairs living and dining area and get rid of the metal open frame shades , at least the bulbs inside should stay dust free.

SUNDAY - Went to Dobcross to the garden centre we bought another sheep head for the wall this time in black two heads better than one she also bought a rustic crown its the accessories that make the home in my opinion the things we collect through your life they don't have to be expensive just cool .

Sunday evening we went over to Leeds to see her sons new house purchase well its not new but its a house the best thing is the conservatory the worst things its steps up to the front door and it over looks a trading estate but its fine the garden and patio area  to the rear is good the bathroom is small and one of the bedrooms is more of a box room but its what they wanted and they are happy which is what counts .

MONDAY - The Hello Fresh box came with our five meals for the week think this is going to be our last order the meals are great its just the portion size leave me hungry Helen gets hungry later on as well so its back to cooking our own meals we will try and create some of the sauces for the meat and potato grating shouldn't be that hard  .

LISTENING TO - Rag N Bone Man "Life By Misadventure " I think its absolutely brilliant work yet .

READING - Shari Lapena  "Not A Happy Family" just starting so no comment but she has not done a bad book yet .

WATCHING - Suicide Squad 2 its utter garbage

TWO FILMS TWO MEALS ONE WINNER

FRIDAY - Thank God its been a weary week I have watched this week  "The Forever Purge ' worst one out of them all boring I also watched 'F9" total shite needs a purge they should have stopped at four hopefully ten will never happen .

Its raining its boring and grey Helen is bored I am clock watching will have to start tea soon iron my uniform to go to a job that is under paid with lack of lustre in a dingy office with out of date slow computers no air con no windows and grey walls no wonder I get fucking depressed .At least the weekend is approaching .

SATURDAY  - Helen is doing nine readings out of a mystic shop on Slaithwaite its a shop what sells incense sage cards and art objects from fairies and dragons and all things spiritual .

After dropping Helen off I walked down the canal for a few miles I had parked at a Aldi car park max stay three hours I made it back to the car I shall return in a few hours .Which I did I parked in the same car park . I decided to go to Ashbys chicken shop and get some food to eat in the car before walking on the canal but walking in the opposite direction .I only got two legs and chips and a cartoon of gravy I waited outside until they brought my order out I walked to the car I was disappointed with the quality of the chicken they where not legs but drumsticks and looked anaemic they chips where fries to be honest kfc would have been a better option .

I got a call from Helen saying she had finished her readings it was nearly five p.m she was hungry I was hungry even though I had eaten the chicken and fries we went to the Boshaw Trout had our favourite fish and chips we sat inside and enjoyed our meal I showed her the chicken I got these posted on to their face book page almost immediately she got a reply the owner profoundly sorry and sent her a ten pound token for use at the shop so fair does , I do honestly believe the chicken is good people travel miles to eat there I will be using the voucher and will give a update when we have been back .

The fish and chips went down a treat plus the pint of cider I had to wash them down a true winner a gold medal ,  I guess where ever you eat the food can sometimes not be as good as you hoped for but that's the joy of out door eating .

After Helen finished her readings we had a drive over to Ashbys at Slaithwaite got parked up found the chicken shop it shut at four so no fried  chicken chips and gravy for me will have to wait a week .

MONDAY - Auguust already its storming towards christmas the trees will be out of the loft and up in the living room think it will go up early again this year too .

TUESDAY - Still on the Hello fresh the food is great got to admit some of the meals are not filling the chicken breasts and other meat portions are smaller than what we would buy when out shopping , if your still hungry after your main meal of the day its not ideal .

WEDNESDAY  - Put up beam number three the final and last beam its in place stained and does add to the overall look of the room jib a gud un .

THURSDAY - Cooked a home made lasagne and home baked garlic bread first meal we have had that was not out of an Hello Fresh box.

WHAT A CARRY ON

WEDNESDAY - Mid week , I never mentioned because I was not sure of the out come but  a Porter at the hospital I work at  died last Friday night whilst he was at work he collapsed with either  a heart attack or a aneurysm  it was a very sad Friday .

He was younger and looked a lot fitter than me ,  makes you realise any place any time could be your last day I always imagine people who die unexpectedly will have had a normal day got up showered had breakfast checked the mail watched the news left the house never to set foot in the place again . Instead ending up on a rack in the morgue and the friends you work with on the shift you was working with collecting your body from Resus on the blue covered trolley to your final destination  its a sobering thought cant imagine any day being a good day to pass away.R.I.P my friend .

Anyway the weather is back to grey wet and windy its July and it seems like November only difference is the leaves are still on the trees .

Bought another 4x4 piece of lumber to timber for another beam at the front of the room will do that next week but not on a Monday .

Have been cooking the Go Fresh meals so far brilliant really good have no issues all of the four meals we have cooked have been excellent if they stay as good as this and we don't  have any issues regarding delivery then fine highly recommend them .

Got new SIM cards from our network provider our signal strength was getting worse to where we cant even text off our phones will see how better it is with the new SIM card installed .

Covid is still present in the hospital and one of the ICU ward is all covid patients. The cases are fewer but they are still cases and they seem to be rising we are not out of the woods yet  , so don't let anyone try and tell you different .Carry on wearing a mask , carry on washing your hands and carry on social distancing where possible , in a nutshell carry on being safe .

PAINTING AWAY AND OTHER STUFF.

Still have not flown the drone i bought I have just been way  too busy D-DAY or drone day might be one day this weekend or early next week .

I want to go to a chicken shop near buy in Slaithwaite village called Ashby's apparently its the best fried chicken for miles I love fried chicken fries and mayo our regualr haunt is Marsdens need to see if this beats it  the gravy they sell is also highly recomended  so hopefully Saturday night we will check it out and hopefully it won't disappoint .

My Iphone will be three years old this April I didn't want to change it as it was a £1500 phone but it seems to be running slow not connecting to 4g and wifi  reception seems to have dropped my idea was to keep the phone and use the money to buy a new Mac book or Air book will have to see just how bad the phone gets before I make a choice .

WEEKEND - Saturday Helen had a couple of readings to do over in Linthwaite did nothing much else .Sunday we went over to York to see Helens parents just in case another lock down kicks in ,

MONDAY - Painted the bedroom wall Helen bought the paint weeks ago finally got it done once I start its ok its just getting my arse in to gear.

TUESDAY - I painted  the landing walls after yesterdays painting session thought I do todays project have tomorrow a paint free day .it took a few hours I used masking tape which took a good twenty minutes and another twenty minutes getting the painting gear and step ladders out I was finished just after three work in two hours need relaxing time .

Our first  Hello Fresh box arrived yesterday it contained five days of meals for two adults the ice packs weighed more than the food .Whilst I was putting the painting stuff away Helen cooked our first meal steak with oven cooked chips and green beans to be fair it turned out really good the food was very tasty no complains looking forward to the rest of the meals .

NO RISE

FREEDOM DAY  - So called freedom day what a load of lies we are being feed its ludicrous people believe its all ok its all good just because they say so covid has not gone away just because its now ok to go into night clubs does not mean jack .

I guess in these times its being grateful for what you have ,is it greedy to want more and a case of be happy with what you have because what you have, where and how we live is someone else's dream .We tend to forget that those who have very little want exactly what we have and how we live and some of the things I have and own would be their paradise .

I do know a 1% pay rise is an insult to all NHS staff nursing and none nursing it is a insult just like the badge and letter of thanks that we got  posted out its not going to pay the bills .Just to put it in perspective Morrison's supermarket workers got 9% years ago we was told by one of our managers if we didn't like working for the Nhs go to Morrisons's we all should have listened .

After writing the above ihe pay rise for NHS staff England as been put up to a whopping 3% people are angry if the NHS don't get a decent rise this year after eighteen months fighting the pandemic its never going to happen .

Mu daughter is selling the hose she lives in with her boyfriend not sure where they will move to hopefully a nice secluded place with not too many houses with open spaces and fields and countryside a forever home .

BETTER THAN TINNED

Totally feed up with work is getting worse covid is coming home its not really ever gone away and the figures are rising daily and to be honest me and a lot of health care workers have the same that we could do with out being at work .

But it will be learning how to survive on benefits if I could I know others can and do but then I think in a lot of cases it is just  surviving and not living which makes a big difference .

Helen's son is in Mykonos in Greece with his mate who just got through to the finals of Euro 2020 . I went years ago its an truly amazing place I which I had a mobile phone it was way before the birth of the iPhone its an Instagamers dream destination as well as Santorini, white buildings blue seas paradise .

SATURDAY - At last it is red hot and well in to the high twenties  its times like these I wished I lived on the coast need to check out some reservoirs ones we have not been to .Trouble is you just know they will be packed out not really what I am after .

SUNDAY - Bought some fresh strawberries and a pineapple sat in the garden and ate the pineapple it was £1.15 cheaper than a tin it was ice cold and refreshing ,

Cooked a turkey joint for dinner had it with roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings was too hot but have to eat in the evening went for a walk at Ingbirchworth reservoir it was still warm with a slight breeze there was baby frogs jumping around the path so tiny they looked like flies once we was aware of them we was looking where we were walking .

LOST IT

SUNDAY  - Went over to York to Helens parents home Helen had a reading for one of their friends she lived in a massive house a few minutes away from theirs but about eight times the cost .I stayed with her parents watching the mens Wimbledon  finals it years since I have watched tennis and of course we wanted to get home to watch the England football final with Italy in the evening .They had moved the bird table that I had made for them to the opposite end of the garden it looked well .

Well England got  off to a great start in the final 1- 0 in the first few minutes and we went in winning at half time .It took Italy a while to score sand it was still one all after thirty minutes of extra time.

England lost we went out on the penalty shoot out three players from the England squad totally fcuked up big time no excuses some of these players are on 200k a week and are professional players its their job its what they are paid to do score goals so no excuses. You lost us the final because you cant position a ball so after waiting fifty five years we still have not won a major tournament coming second does not equal a win .Well it is the World Cup next year see how good we do then is anyones guess , hopefully we don't have to take any penalties to get a win otherwise we might as well stay at home .

MONDAY - Its grey cold and wet and its rained all morning and I am back at work today totally cant be arsed .

ITS BUGGING

Following a You Tuber called 'Rate My Take Away " he is a Lad  from Leeds which is our old town he is down to earth and very comical and a true Yorkshire mans gift of the gab and he is doing a great job and putting out great content through out the week.  His following is growing and people stop to have their photographs taken with him  ,He basically goes around the surrounding suburbs  tasting food from local take aways , kebab shops fast food shops anywhere were and every where tasting all types of food .He recently went to a Indian curry take away , kebab outlet in Wakefield its only a half hour drive from where we live and I want to go check it out hopefully this weekend its called Abduls and hopefully we are not too busy that we cant get over there and sample the food .

We need a new printer and scanner  Helen's requirements is it as to be white so that makes it an easy choice not sure if I want to go back to a Canon I think they are better than Epsom or HP but that's just my opinion I think we need to see the cost of the ink and work round that  ,otherwise you can spend a fortune on ink.

SATURDAY - Ended up buying another HP Printer you get three months free ink and then to carry it on it is £9.99 a month which should be enough ink for around three hundred pages which should be enough .It cost £59.99 and we got a free  ream of canon white paper which was £4.99 so not a bad price it set up ok there is a amber warning light on which I am not sure why but it is printing from both the Mac book and iPhone hopefully this amber light is annoying rather than a fault it seems ok I powered it down and back on and the amber light came on again will have to figure it out or it is going to bug me.

BEAMING AT LAST

Since we moved in our new build last year Helen has wanted me to put two beams one across the entrance to the kitchen and one seperating the living room and dining room .Well finally did it for her they look better than I thought which is a good thing. We had to buy some more wax coach bolts and obiously the timber all in all £50 not a bad.

England football team made it to the final first time since 1966 the million dollar question is it coming home who knows would be nice would be a great boost in moral after going through and surviving the covid pandemic would be a great moment it time I guess if they loose it is highly unlikely I will witness another final in my life time .

Bought Helen a Michael Corr's bag she has always wanted one and we went into a boutique shop and she picked up to look at of course a sales assistant approached her I said jokingly  I would buy it for her thing is I wasn't joking I knew she would be buzzing if I did , so I did I bought it for her bless its nice doing things that makes some wish come true.

I tested a bottle on Initio Oud fragrance cologne what ever it is classed as I think also it is unisex but I sprayed my wrist twelve hours later I could still smell it it unbelievable and I would wear it every day the only draw back is it cost £270 for 90ml and I know once the bottle was empty I be forking out another £270 , I know you can buy imitations scents and perfumes but I would want the original just for the bottle sitting on my my bedroom drawers .I have ordered a sample off eBay 3ml for a £10 at least I get  true smell hopefully its genuine .

DREAMS

FRIDAY -Was suppose to drive the camper  over to Helen's brother house in Crofton to get the reversing switch fitted the van wouldn...
